ACTERIA Prizes

The ACTERIA Prizes awarded by EFIS were established in 2012 to recognize and reward Europe’s young talents in the fields of immunology and allergology. Since 2020, Prizes have been awarded every year. In 2023, two ACTERIA Doctoral Prizes for the best PhD dissertations defended in the last 3 years, are awarded. These Prizes carry cash awards plus the potential funding of three-year research projects to be performed in European institutions. Next year in 2023, two ACTERIA Early Career Research Prizes will be awarded to young scientists who are on the track to play a leading role in immunology and allergology in Europe in years to come.

EFIS EJI Ita Askonas Award

The Ita Askonas Award was established by EFIS and the European Journal of Immunology (EJI) in recognition of outstanding female group leaders in immunology who have run an independent laboratory for a minimum of four and no more than eight years.

This year, the award will be conferred to:

Işıl Berat Barlan (IBB) Awards

The Işıl Berat Barlan Awards were established by the Turkish Society of Immunology (TSI). The Society presents awards in three categories (Women, Young scientists and Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases) each year in honor of our late colleague, the Prof. Isil Berat Barlan, a distinguished physician-scientist and educator who made invaluable contributions to the fields of Allergy and Immunology in Turkey and internationally.

The winners of the 2024 IBB Prizes awarded by TSI are:

  • Award for Women Scholars in Immunology: Lucie Loyal
  • Awards for Young Scientist in Immunology: Samuel Nobs and Alanna Kelly

Prizes will be awarded during the Opening Ceremony on Sunday 1st September, 17:00 – 18:00

EFIS Poster Presentation Awards

Poster chairpersons will evaluate all posters presented and select one or more poster award candidates per poster session. Award candidate posters will be marked at the end of each poster session by a specific sticker. Each selected poster presenter is asked to transfer the selected poster themselves to the designated BEST POSTERS AREA in the Foyer. Here, final decisions on winners will be made by an award jury.
